The journey of the soul

The journey from Alam-e-Arwah (The Realm of Souls) to the Day of Judgment is a profound and comprehensive narrative in Islamic teachings. Here is the complete story, derived from the Qur'an, Hadith, and Islamic scholarship:

1. Alam-e-Arwah (The Realm of Souls):-
Creation of Souls: Allah created all human souls before their physical existence. This event is mentioned in the Qur'an:
"And [mention] when your Lord took from the children of Adam - from their loins - their descendants and made them testify of themselves, [saying to them], 'Am I not your Lord?' They said, 'Yes, we have testified.' This - lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection, 'Indeed, we were of this unaware.'" (Qur'an 7:172)

This is the Primordial Covenant (Mithaq), where all souls affirmed Allah as their Lord.

2. Alam-e-Dunya (The Worldly Life)

Birth and Life on Earth:
Each soul is sent to the world, entering a physical body. This stage is a test of faith and deeds. Allah says:
"Blessed is He in whose hand is dominion, and He is over all things competent - [He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed." (Qur'an 67:1-2)

Humans are given free will, intellect, and guidance through prophets and scriptures to fulfill their purpose: worship Allah and live righteously.

Role of Prophets:
Allah sent prophets to guide humanity, the final being Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who delivered the Qur'an as the ultimate guidance.

Death (Maut):
Every soul must taste death:
"Every soul will taste death. And you will only be given your [full] compensation on the Day of Resurrection." (Qur'an 3:185)

3. Barzakh (The Intermediate Realm)

The Grave:
After death, the soul enters Barzakh, a barrier between this world and the Hereafter. The grave is described as either a garden of Paradise or a pit of Hell, depending on one's deeds.

Questioning in the Grave: Two angels, Munkar and Nakir, question the deceased:

1. Who is your Lord?

2. What is your religion?

3. Who is this man sent to you (Prophet Muhammad)?

Waiting for Resurrection:
Souls remain in Barzakh until the Day of Judgment. The righteous experience peace, while the wicked face torment.

4. The Day of Judgment (Yawm al-Qiyamah)

The Signs of the Hour:
Before the Day of Judgment, specific signs will appear, categorized as minor and major:

Minor Signs: Increased immorality, widespread ignorance, disobedience to parents, etc.

Major Signs: Appearance of the Dajjal (Antichrist), return of Prophet Isa (Jesus), emergence of Gog and Magog (Ya'juj and Ma'juj), the sun rising from the west, and the blowing of the Trumpet.

Blowing of the Trumpet:
The angel Israfil will blow the Trumpet twice:

1. First Blow: All living beings will die.

2. Second Blow: All will be resurrected.

The Gathering (Hashr):
All humans, jinn, and creatures will be gathered on a vast plain. The sun will be close, and people will sweat according to their deeds.

The Reckoning (Hisab):
Every individual will be judged based on their deeds. Allah says:
"Then whoever does an atom's weight of good will see it, and whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it." (Qur'an 99:7-8)

The Scales (Mizan):
Deeds will be weighed on the scales. The righteous will receive their record in their right hand, while the wicked will receive it in their left hand or behind their back.

The Bridge (Sirat):
A bridge thinner than a hair and sharper than a sword will span over Hell. The righteous will cross swiftly, while the wicked may fall into Hell.

---

5. Eternal Abodes

Paradise (Jannah):
The ultimate reward for the righteous. It is a place of eternal bliss, where believers will enjoy unimaginable pleasures and the greatest blessing: seeing Allah.

Hell (Jahannam):
The abode of punishment for the disbelievers and evildoers. It is a place of intense torment, but Allah's mercy may eventually admit some sinners into Paradise.

6. Conclusion

Final Justice:
Allah's justice will prevail, and everyone will receive their due recompense.
"Indeed, Allah does not wrong [anyone] even as much as an atom's weight; while if there is a good deed, He multiplies it and gives from Himself a great reward." (Qur'an 4:40)

Eternity:
After the judgment, the righteous will dwell eternally in Paradise, and the wicked in Hell, unless Allah wills otherwise.

This journey underscores the purpose of life: to worship Allah, prepare for the Hereafter, and strive for righteousness.
